About
The Global Citizens Project is an initiative launched by the University of South Florida as part of its Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). This project aims to prepare "well-educated and highly skilled global citizens through their continuing commitment to student success." In order to enhance global citizen skills, courses such as the Introduction of Literature requires its students to participate in the Global Citizens Poetry Project.
As part of the Global Citizens Poetry Project, students of different cultures are united in order to augment global competency and awareness. For the Global Citizens Poetry Project, each of the members in this group analyzed different poems from their respective cultures: Latino, Middle Eastern, American, and Filipino. The different poets being assessed are Chilean poet, Pablo Neruda; Palestinian poet, Mahmoud Darwish; American poet, Shel Silverstein; and Filipino poets, Jose Rizal and Marjorie Evasco.
